The main objective of our research program is to bridge molecular biology and endocrinology. More precisely, my lab is interested in the role and the mechanisms of action of signaling pathways in developing and functional endocrine tissues. Currently, we are studying the roles of the Hippo signaling pathway in steroidogenesis as well as in Leydig (and adrenocortical) cell differentiation using transgenic animal and cell culture models.
Understanding mechanisms regulating steroidogenesis in Leydig cells will not only give us essential information on testosterone production, infertility and the development of the reproductive system but also on pathologies associated with inadequate steroid hormone levels such as endometriosis, metabolic syndrome, polycystic ovarian syndrome and numerous tumors.
